1.What does your leadership position entail?
My leadership position entails a lot of responsibility because I not only manage my own businesses but I am also in charge of an organization that helps build schools in third world countries. I have to make sure that I clearly communicate my ideas and what needs to done to my co- workers across the country. I also have to be organized to manage my time because sometimes I have to unexpectedly have to travel across the world to solve immediate problems but at the same time I have to make sure that my family and work is situated. Communication is another main factor of my leadership position.
2.What advice do you have for aspiring leaders?
An advice I have for aspiring leaders is to know every situation and be involved but at the same time never panic when such situations come.
3.What is the biggest challenge you have faced as a leader?
The biggest challenge I have faced as a leader is when in my situation a political issue comes up because then our plan lags behind and it causes more problems. (It’s like a domino effect).
4.What qualities are essential to being a leader?
I would say determination and vision are the most important qualities to being a leader because without determination you cannot encourage others to lead and also when one is determined to a task they portray a positive attitude about it.
5.How do you get others to follow you?
I get others to follow me by being honest about my task and making them aware of the situation I am helping in.
6.What or who inspired you to become a leader?
His Highness Aga Khan our religious leader inspired me to become a leader. His main goal is to remove poverty from the world or eliminate it to a point where poverty is no longer a concern to the population. Since I grew up in Pakistan I have also experienced this poverty but I was fortunate enough to have an education but my friends were not. When I came to the United States 25 years ago I was determined to complete my education in law and engineering so I can help my community in ways, which would help eliminate the poverty and illiteracy. One-way of doing so was to educate the population of third world countries so they can take the education they have gained and spread it to their peers so they can live sufficient lives. The educational program and schools are fully funded and children as well as adults can receive a well-rounded education. The teachers are trained in an institute in London and are either paid or voluntarily go to these countries and help educate children.
7.What do you as a leader do to affect your community?
I help build school in third world countries to enhance their education system and also provide adults with common knowledge so they are able to lead their households and families out of poverty.

I enjoyed your personal best experience, Fahrin. You truly had an opportunity of a lifetime there, to be sure. Your leader interview was also quite substantive; it needed a bit more context (reminding readers who it was you interviewed and providing some more of your own reflections on what you had learned). Still, good information there.
ReplyDeleteYou still need to do the reflection on how your view of leadership has changed...
